Tomorrow // A Visual Experience from Slake Dransky
He was gone for a minute, but he’s back on the 9th Floor.
Slake Dransky’s summer was busy. Immediately after releasing his debut album Colors on June 5th, society was turned upside down when we came face-to-face with devastating blow after another to the integrity of our world. Everything came into question: the value of black lives, the trans community, our health, and ultimately the compassion of others.
Our boy Slake took to the streets always on a mission, joining others in protest and putting his aspirations to the side. But, it takes a lot to keep Slake Dransky down. In recent weeks, he hit the studio hard with more passion and message than before — ready to deliver.
Peep his latest creation, TOMORROW, a visual experience based on his latest album’s first two tracks.
The combination piece starring Slake Dransky and Dune Laila was directed and filmed by Austin McMains. The featured track from Colors, Tomorrow was produced by the DGTL.

What inspired you to make this video?
In my head, the plan was always to do a tandem piece for Tonight & Tomorrow. They're buddies! I'll let it speak for itself. Austin worked his magic, and it turned out hauntingly beautiful.
How would you describe TOMORROW?
We knew we wanted to lock into this cinematic out-of-sequence narrative for Tomorrow but would be dead in the water if Dune hadn't hopped on board. We straight-up never met. She's an artist in the area. We pitched her the idea. She was down. 😂 She truly brought everything to life. I can't thank her enough.
The shots from the hotel are 🔥, tell us about that scene.
Austin had the idea to shoot the motel through the window, so it felt like the audience saw intimate moments in a relationship that they maybe shouldn't. The collaboration on this one made it what it became. I'm happy my track lent itself to the process. This is far and away from the best video we ever made together. I hope people can get something out of it.

“Tonight” by Slake Dransky
You say dream like a reason not to wake up,
My dreams are beacons,
Dressed different,
All the same dust,
My dreams are prescient and nostalgic in amalgam,
Unconcerned with outcomes I wouldn’t know the meaning of,
A dream is a goal when you speak what you sew so forth,
Wasn’t me that you spoke for: I was sleep when I rose,
The devil dribbled troubled dew across my forehead,
Told me to ignore it,
Not a peep to a soul,
I think you said this, said the waves will bring you back to shore, but if you wake and waves have come and gone:
Just turn those heavy eyes skyward, and watch the light begin to yawn,
Watch the light begin to yawn,
Watch the light begin to yawn,
I’ll tell you all about it when you wake,
Another night begins anon.
