It's a million degrees outside everywhere, and we're not sure if it's corporate America's neglect, global warming, or juicy hot music coming from the brains of all our favorite artists. This season's theme is "We Outside" because as our world opens back up, we're headed to the beach, the club, the park, another club, plane, with no sleep, as Lady Gaga would say.
This month's playlist is sprinkled with the talents of our favorite resident artists, some great collaborations, and a few new artists we can't wait for you to become obsessed with. It's time to grab your skimpy bikinis, a watercooler full of drinks, and get your butt over to the day party on the beach. The dance floor is waiting for you, and the 9th Floor is the DJ for the night. Cheers!
"Solar Power" - Lorde
Between Lorde, Billie, and Lana-- it's the summer of sad, sultry white girls, and we are deep in our feelings and ready to embrace every lyric. We welcome back Lorde with her latest "Solar Polar," the lead single from the upcoming third studio album slated for a summer release.
"Thot Shit" - Megan Thee Stallion
Tina Snow is back, and we ready for the Hot Girl Summer. The first single since her debut studio album is nothing to play with, especially if you're a crooked politician. Watch the music video until the end.
"Snow Tha Product: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 39" - Bizarrap, Snow Tha Product
We love a wild, raunchy collab and Snow Tha Product delivered. Teaming up with the Argentine record producer Bizarrap, Snow Tha Product brings Latina flair and fire to this summer. If you're brave enough, check out the music video.
“In Da Getto” - J Balvin, Skrillex
There was a time when Skrillex was on everybody's track, and it looks like we're back there. This time he teams up our favorite Colombian reggaeton superstar incorporating tropical summer vibes with a classic nineties dance hit.
"Choke" - Royal & the Serpent
It's dark, sexy, and a whole vibe. Freshman singer/songwriter Royal & the Serpent is nothing to play with. She has the exquisite vocal talent and the haunting melodies to be around for a very long time.
"Space Ghost Coast To Coast" - Glass Animals
Who used to stay up late and watch that ridiculously trippy talk show with Space Ghost? Glass Animals’ track from their 2020 album Dreamland is taboo. Apparently, it's a journey from the perspective of a shooter's best friend. You have been warned.
"Lost" - Maroon 5
There's something about those charismatic high pitch screams of Adam Levine. Maroon 5's fourth single from their seventh studio album, Jordi, is a hit, but who's surprised? They pretty much have this down to a science by now.
“Mañana” - Alvaro Soler, Cali Y El Dandee
You ever just stare at an artist's cover art and forget to even hit play? This is what Alvaro does for us. The Spanish-German singer is a desperado driving in an old Monte Carlo. The third song from his third studio album of the same name is our love language. He's definitely a polyglot.
“Twerkulator” - City Girls
There are not many duos out there more compatible than 9th Floor's head honchos, except for Yung Miami and JT. The City Girls crafted another unforgettable anthem with this single following their second studio album, City on Lock.
"Shake Ya Ass" - Wyld Renaissance
The California-based, multi-genre producer is one to watch. Dropping sick EPs with booming bass is his specialty, and we love it all. A renaissance is on the rise indeed. Get into it, kids. It's Wyld out here, and we ready to be outside with great beats.
"SUFI GRIND (PUT YO HANDS ON YO KNEES)" - King Taper
His swag is impressive. His beard is amazing. His music is immaculate. King Taper is a retired celebrity barber who knows a thing or two about a smooth cut. Check out this track and allow yourself to transport to islands, baby.
"Photo ID (with Dominic Fike)" - Remi Wolf
This song was made for a cross-faded sing-a-long. It's the fourth track and the second single on I'm Allergic To Dogs!, her sophomore EP. Remi Wolf is a remarkable talent of the next generation, so it makes sense that she would collaborate with another 9th Floor favorite, the colorfully buzzed Dominic Fike.
"RULES" - SmallTownHollywood
This adorable, lovable guy all over your TikTok can put together a tremendous feel-good track. Sure he can sing a great cover, but this Nashville-based artist really takes the cake with his original tracks like RULES, which showcase his ability to produce, rap, write, sing, and play.
"Howl" - The Technicolors
Did I just walk into a time machine? The "musically sophisticated" rock band The Technicolors have the grainy, classic sound of the greats and the laid-back energy of the millennial. Howl is a perfect track for the open air of the music festival with a cold beer in one hand and a legal joint in the other.
"good 4 u" - Olivia Rodrigo
The kids and the adults are fighting over who gets to be fans of this gifted young woman. We get it. Olivia is a talent worth fighting for, but there's enough talent for everyone to rock out in the audience. The third single from her first studio album is just more evidence that everyone made the right choice being her superfan.
"Ripe" - FLAVIA
FLAVIA has an unforgettable presence, and we're happy her sultry image is burned in our brains forever. Her song "Ripe" is a message of female sexuality, and we are front row and center and taking notes. Go off, Queen.
"Slumber Party (feat. Princess Nokia)" - Ashnikko
The fourth track off her debut mixtape Demidevil is a calling card of her eccentric and avant-garde style. Would you believe that she grew up listening to country music and Slipknot? I guess it makes sense. She must be from the same awesome galaxy as Grimes and Janelle Monae.
"checkmate" - BIIANCO
We're bringing back the love for BIIANCO, a previously featured artist of our 9th Floor playlists. The “Duke and Duchess of the queer-femme chill-wave dream-pop” are calling all the subjects to the dancefloor for some grooves to embrace our emotions, and we bow in drunken awe. Don't worry, pawns. The game is over; it's a checkmate.
“ME PASE (feat. Farruko)” - Enrique Iglesias
Mr. Iglesias knows how to make a comeback. We were anticipating his tour, but with pandemics getting in the way-- the wait's become even more enticing. The Spanish singer who found a solid place in almost every decade since the 90s has returned. We know you were waiting.
Look out for more from 9th Floor Media!
