9th Floor Playlist Update
It's time for new music!

The 9th Floor presents another fresh, new playlist (available on Spotify and Apple Music) to satisfy all the summer vibes. Our playlist features more fire music from our favorite artists, including two tracks from 9th Floor Media client, Slake Dransky. With plenty of dope singles off his debut album, Colors released on June 5, 2020, it was hard to choose which songs we wanted to highlight for this summer playlist. "Words, Words, Words" is simply just fresh bars, bars, bars. The song starts off with a modest flow of endless rhymes before the beat switch building the tempo and completely flipping the script. We think he says it all when he claims, "he bodied the beat," because our boy does just that.
The next song from Slake is "Let's Get Drunk and Talk About Aliens," a song perfect for beach bonfires or knocking back a few beers on the porch. The smooth guitar in the background compliments Slake's melodies right before he hits us with another signature beat switch that will 100% make you throw your hands up and snatch the roof off the club.
Peep our list below where we selected a few favorites from the 9th Floor Playlist perfect for that social distance picnic in Malibu or psychedelic staycation in Palm Springs.
Let us take you to the 9th Floor, where you can find great music for every occasion.
"my future" - Billie Eilish
We're obsessed with this beautiful new song from Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish. Never shying away from a contemplative ballad, "my future" is a perfect theme for a serene escape from our quarantine woes. Shout FINNEAS for showing the whole world once again a family that plays together, absolutely slays together.
"Girls in the Hood" - Megan Thee Stallion
The queen of the hot girls does it again with another turn-up anthem for the boss ladies of the world. She puts a sexy spin on the Eazy-E and N.W.A. classic 1987 "Boyz-n-the-Hood" and shows all of us the boys ain't the only ones running things around here. Megan knows how to make a fiery, summer anthem. Where all my hot girls at?
"The One That You Love" - L.P.
We can't get enough of singer-songwriter L.P.'s eerily-soulful melodies. "The One That You Love" reunites the dream team behind the hit song and 9th Floor favorite, "Lost On You." The song is the perfect blend of classic American genres showcasing the extensive vocal range of this groovy songwriting genius.
"exile (ft. Bon Iver)" - Taylor Swift
We thought the old Taylor was dead? It looks like she has risen from the grave in this beautiful new collaboration with hipster staple Bon Iver. If it's not clear from the surprise album drop's melancholy black and white imagery or the stripped-down melodies, Taylor is catering to a specific demographic with this album. We're down to listen to what she has to say. Grab yourself a cup of artisan coffee, and go stare at the succulents in your backyard for a few minutes with this song whispering in the distance.
"Ego Death (ft. Kanye West, F.K.A. Twigs, Skrillex)" - Ty Dolla $ign
Ty Dolla $ign is the king of a great collab, and this new banger doesn't disappoint. When you get a handful of multi-talented artists on one song, you get an out-of-body experience that will make your ears, eyes, and whole face melt. Kill your ego, throw on your sunglasses, and get into this jam.
"Ungodly Hour" - Chloe x Halle
The sultry voices of the dainty diva duo, Chloe x Halle, return better than ever in this title track of their latest album Ungodly Hour. There is no question that this was going to be one of our favorites on the list since the dynamic duo Disclosure lends their synthy-sounds to the track. This song is dreamy and psychedelic, perfect for laying under the stars with a cocktail and a freshly-rolled joint.
"Watermelon Sugar" - Harry Styles
Although we first heard this track back in November, the new music video's spring release revitalized everything great about this second single off Harry Styles' second studio album. Maybe the money's in Harry running through the Malibu beaches with watermelons in hand or the 1970s funk-pop rhythms. Either way, this song tastes like strawberries on a summer evening.
"Time (Alan Walker Remix)" - Hans Zimmer
The 9th Floor lives for an excellent electronic remix of a score classic. The Alan Walker remix of Zimmer's popular instrumental theme from Christopher Nolan's 2010 trippy, science-fiction caper, Inception is the psychedelic banger we were waiting for. Make sure you peep the extended version, so you fully experience your dreamworld getting turned upside down and sideways.
"Pullin Up" - Soda
Does anyone else miss going to dark, warehouse parties in the middle of nowhere? With no real timeline in sight when these sweaty adventures return, bump German music producer Soda's bass-heavy house beat in your living room. A pair of headphones and this fat bass can immediately transport you to a poolside party on the rooftop of a mansion in Ibiza.
"Pressure" - Koffee
The island vibes will come to you with Grammy-nominated reggae musician Koffee's latest song, "Pressure." It ironically takes the pressure off a stressful work-from-home day and instead turns it into a beachside party on the coast. There's mad talent in this petite prodigy, and we here along for every second of the journey.
"Dame un Beso" - La Mera Candelaria
Imagine stepping off the plane right onto the beautiful beaches of Colombia. La Mera Candelaria can musically teleport you to the tropics with their cumbia-salsa sounds fused with the traditional Son Cubano vibe. The sounds and rhythms are sexual, conventional yet empowering, bringing voices to Latin music, Latina womanhood, and queer Latinx communities.
"Tap In" - Saweetie
Here we go again. Saweetie sampled another Lil' Jon hit production from the early 2000s and brought all the great, ratchet memories of past summers. The minute this song drops, you'll find yourself in the middle of the dance floor, blowing whistles, and throwing it in a circle. Saweetie is the spiritual successor to the anthem-making machines of 2005. We can't wait until her upcoming project, Pretty Bitch Music, drops.
Stay tuned for more from 9th Floor Media!
